Tables Turned
Back when the Congress and President backed a bill to give Terri Schiavo's parents another day in court, poll number ran against them something to the order of 70-30 or even 80-20, or some where in that area. Now, via Instapundit, the tables are turned. 68% believe the prisoners at Gitmo are being treated "About right" or better. 20% think the prisoners are being treated unfairly.
It's all explained here:
For those who have supported the war all along -- or at least want to see us win -- it's sad not to have a loyal opposition to help keep the administration honest.
Comments
I started to read the last link, and when I got to the part where the author refered to the hatchet piece in the Post by Dana Milbank as "excellent", I had to log off. I was so incensed by that piece of dung "article" that I was compelled to write to the Post Ombudsman. Here's what I wrote:
Mr. Ombudsman:
I have never written to the Post before, because I always thought that when I read your paper, I was getting the news in the news section, and opinions in the Editorials/Opinions section. Now it appears that your paper is turning into something resembling a tabloid or biased paper like the Washington Times. I'm referring to an article or column or essay that I read today by Dana Milbank in your A section, where I usually look for actual NEWS.
This article was only an absurdly biased hatchet job on Congressman Conyers and his group of distinguished congressmen and activists that were holding a hearing about something that many Americans consider important. The tone of the piece was pure ridicule from start to finish. Why was this in the news section? It was opinion, or one might even say a lame attempt at "humor". It wasn't presented as a news story, but there it was in the news section.
I don't buy the Post for biased junk like this. I suggest that you have pieces like this placed elsewhere in the paper, such as the Editorials/Opinions section.
I remain a subscriber, but if the Post is going to morph into a biased tabloid, I probably won't be much longer.
Thanks for your time,
(Grax)
So far no reply from the Post. Senator Warner is much better at answering his emails-- he always writes me back. But not the Post. Cowards.
